Week 7 – 21 Jan 2016

Salaams mummies.

Here is a recap of our class on the 21 of Jan. It was the day of the Wiladat of the father of Imame Zamana, Imam Hasan Askari (AS) and so we centered our weekly theme on him.

Qur’an:

For Qur’an, we revised Surah Ikhlas and the letter ‘taa’. We did ‘taa’ ‘tamar’ again and ate more Tamar to celebrate the birthday of Imam Hasan Askari (AS).

image

image

Tareekh:

For Tareekh we had a short introduction on Imam Hasan (as below) and then we followed that with a story with some props.

image

Today we are going to talk about Imam Hasan Askari (AS).

image

He is our 11th Imam.

His daddy was Imam Ali Naqi (AS) his mummy was Bibi Saleel.
image

He was married to a beautiful princess called Bibi Narjis.

He was the father of Imame Zamana (atfs)

We told the children two stories.

The first was about how the king sent two bad people to hurt the Imam but the Imam was so good that the bad people became good as well and didn’t hurt him.

image

The second story was about how a bad king put Imam in a cage with some hungry wild animals so that they would hurt the Imam but when the king checked back after sometime, he saw all animals sitting peacefully around the Imam.

We then spoke about the Imams shrine had been broken recently and showed the children pictures.

image

And then we spoke about how the lovers of Ahlulbayt are rebuilding it and asked the children if they would like to rebuild it as well.

We wrapped up with an activity where we gave them a blank zari and dome to stick and asked them to repair imams shrine with golden bricks and silver rods.

image

The children were very excited to have repaired Imam’s shrine.

Akhlaq:

Finally for Akhlaq, we again reiterated that the 11 Imam is the father of our Living Imam and then we spoke about respect to parents.

We covered the points below using roleplay to convey the message.

1. When parents come in the room, we should say salaam and stand up to greet them. We should also kiss their hand as a mark of respect.
2. We should give water to our parents.
3. We should speak to them softly and respectfully.
4. We shouldn’t say no or throw tantrums.
5. We should obey them.

Salaams mummies.

Here is a recap of our class on Jan 14.

We continued on our theme of 17th Rabiul Awwal by honoring the other personality who was born on that day, Imam Jafare Sadiq (AS).

Qur’an:

For Quran, we introduced the letter ‘taa’. We did ‘taa’ for ‘Tamar’ (dates).

image

image

We reinforced the concept by tasting yummy dates which teacher Sarah brought and we coloured a palm tree. (Well its actually a coconut tree but that’s a palm tree too so….)

image

Tareekh:

For Tareekh we had a short introduction of Imam Jafare Sadiq highlighting a few points.

1. He is the 6th Imam.
2. He was born on the same day as Prophet Mohammad.
3. He and Prophet Mohammad were both called As Sadiq.
4. He taught us many things about this world.

We continued with a story about Baahis the Explorer where he learns about many animals from his parents who learnt all they know from the famous Hadith of Imam Jafare Sadiq called Tawhide Mufaddhal.

image

Finally we had an activity where we stuck animal stickers in small colourful booklets and made our own ‘Animals that Imam Spoke About’ book.

image

Akhlaq:

Following up from Tareekh, we spoke about the importance of respecting books and how to take care of them. We showed the children one torn and one good book and discussed how we couldn’t read the story in the torn book.

We spoke about the following points.

1. Not throwing the book.
2. Not colouring or writing in it.
3. Not tearing or cutting it.
4. Not gluing the pages together.
5. To turn the pages carefully one by one.

Finally, we spoke about how the most respected book is the Qur’an and how we should do Wudhu before touching it, carry it carefully and with respect, never place it on the floor or step on it and to kiss it as a sign of respect when we are done.

Tareekh

In Tareekh we read a story about our Prophet Muhammad.

image

image

He is also the Last Prophet

image

He was born in Makkah on the 17th of Rabi ul Awwal

image

It was Aamul Feel, The Year of the Elephant.

image

The Prophet used to wear a green cloak.

image

Allah gave Prophet Muhammad the Qur'an.

image

Angel Jibrail used to recite the Qur'an to him.

image

Prophet Muhammad's daughter was Bibi Fatema.

image

He loved all children and would always play with them.

image

He always spoke the truth so he was called As-Sadiq.

image

I can visit his Zari in Masjidun Nabawi in Madina.

image

We followed that with an activity of making Masjidun Nabawi Birthday Cards for the Prophet’s birthday.

image

We gave mummies a piece of card folded in half. The children stuck tissue paper onto the inside of the card and then mummies cut out the dome and minaret from the card front and glued the card shut. Finally we decorated the top with crescents, stars and balloons.

Akhlaq

In Akhlaq we discussed how the Prophet was very polite and how he emphasized cleanliness.

For Tareekh this week we focused on Imam Hassan and learnt some lovely new rhymes as well. The storyboard is included below.

image

Today we are going to talk about Imam Hassan.

image

Imam Hassan is our second Imam.

image

He was also one of the Panjatan.

image

His grandfather was Prophet Mohammed.

image

This is his family. His baba was Imam Ali. His mama was Bibi Fatema. Imam Hussain was his brother. He also had two sisters, Bibi Zainab and Bibi Um Kulthum.

image

He and his brother Imam Hussain, are the kings of Jannat.

image

He used to have a sufra in his house everyday where everyone, rich and poor, could come and eat.

image

Now, let me tell you a story about Imam Hassan. It was the day before Eid and all the children in Madina were talking about their new clothes. Imam Hassan and Imam Hussain didn't have any new clothes. So they asked their mummy Bibi Fatema. "All the children will have new clothes tomorrow. What about our new clothes?"

image

Bibi Fatema said, "inshaAllah if Allah wants, the tailor will bring them tomorrow." After the children went to sleep, she prayed to Allah and asked for His help.

image

The next morning at Fajr time, there was a knock on the door. It was a tailor and he had brought new clothes for the Imams. Imam Hassan got a green shirt and Imam Hussain got a red one.

image

When Prophet Mohammed met Bibi Fatema he asked her, "Do you know who the tailor was? It was an angel from Jannat!!"

image

He is buried in Jannatul Baqi.
